Martini

The Martini is more than just a drink; it's an icon of style and sophistication. From James Bond to Audrey Hepburn, this cocktail has graced the hands of countless characters in pop culture, adding an aura of intrigue and elegance. Traditionally made with gin and dry vermouth, the Martini is a drink that invites personalization, allowing each bartender and enthusiast to put their own twist on it. But at its core, a Martini remains classic and timeless—a drink that turns any moment into an occasion.

Martini Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ ounces of gin (or vodka, if you prefer a Vodka Martini)

  • ½ ounce of dry vermouth

  • Ice cubes

  • Lemon twist or olive for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chill the Glass: Start by placing your Martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill.

  2. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing glass, add the gin and vermouth.

  3. Stir or Shake: Decide if you want your Martini shaken or stirred. James Bond famously preferred his “shaken, not stirred,” but stirring keeps the drink more transparent and smooth. Stir or shake for about 20 seconds.

  4. Strain and Serve: Discard the ice from your Martini glass, and strain the drink into the chilled glass.

  5. Garnish: Add a lemon twist for a burst of citrus aroma or an olive for a savory touch.

Enjoy: The beauty of the Martini lies in its simplicity, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be tailored. If you like a stronger drink, go with a “dry” Martini by reducing the vermouth to just a hint, or even a “bone dry” Martini with no vermouth at all. And for an extra twist, try a “dirty” Martini by adding a splash of olive brine for a salty edge.

The Martini is the ultimate blank canvas in the cocktail world, so whether you’re a purist or an experimenter, this classic drink always makes a statement. Cheers to the Martini—timeless, sophisticated, and utterly enjoyable.
